Andrea Pierce LMHC

Andrea Pierce is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Buffalo, NY, specializing in child and adolescent therapy. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Medaille University. Andrea’s educational foundation in criminal justice, combined with her advanced studies in mental health counseling, has equipped her with a unique perspective on the challenges faced by youth and families, especially those dealing with trauma, behavioral issues, and family dynamics.

​Over the course of her career, Andrea has gained diverse clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families. She has provided therapeutic services in outpatient settings for individuals ranging from 3 to 21 years old and has worked with vulnerable populations, including homeless and at-risk youth, as well as children in foster care. Andrea’s past role as a Clinical Supervisor at a residential facility for youth allowed her to mentor and guide other clinicians in providing high-quality care. In addition, she currently serves as an adjunct professor at a local university, where she teaches and supervises aspiring mental health clinicians, contributing to the education and development of the next generation of mental health professionals.

 

Andrea’s clinical expertise includes a range of therapeutic approaches designed to meet the unique needs of her clients. She is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, which she uses to help clients process trauma, as well as play therapy, which is especially effective for younger children. Additionally, she incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to assist clients with emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Andrea’s commitment to holistic healing extends to her training in restorative justice circles, and she is deeply passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, having contributed to several initiatives aimed at creating more inclusive environments within organizations and communities.
