Andrea specializes in 3 therapeutic modalities: Play Therapy, EMDR, and DBT. In the initial consultation, a variety of techniques may be chosen to get the best benefit from therapeutic treatment.

In addition to one on one therapy, Andrea also provides family reunification, sibling visitation, juvenile delinquency counseling, and healing circles.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is a foundational practice that enables clinicians to engage and motivate children through the power of play. This evidence-based practice enhances children’s ability to engage in the therapy process at an age appropriate level. It  also assists in building a therapeutic relationship with the child, in order to build confidence, in creating a safe reenactment of their vision of the world, through play.

DBT

DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) is a structured therapy that can help those who have trouble handling strong emotions. DBT combines mindfulness and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to help clients understanding and accept difficult feelings, build emotional intelligence and coping strategies, and challenge negative thoughts associated with feelings and behaviors. DBT includes one-on-one time with a therapist, where youth and  parents learn new skills together to help deal with hard feelings.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy approach developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro to help people heal from trauma or adversities such as issues of abuse, bullying, domestic violence, grief/loss, attachment wounds, abandonment, PTSD, and many other complicated life issues. EMDR is an evidence-based approach that can be done with children, young adults and adults.
